With the India-Sri Lanka T20I series set to kick off on Saturday, July 27, in Pallekele, the hosts have suffered another significant blow. Following the earlier announcement that Sri Lanka’s most experienced fast bowler, Dushmantha Chameera, has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match series due to an injury, it has now been confirmed that fast bowler Nuwan Thushara will also miss the series. Thushara sustained a finger injury during a fielding practice session in Pallekele.

Sri Lanka Cricket announced that both Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Thushara will be unavailable for the Indian white-ball series. Chameera, who last played for Sri Lanka in January 2024 against Zimbabwe, was already a significant loss due to his injury. Asitha Fernando has been included in the team as Chameera's replacement.
