The Indian skipper has finally spoken publicly on the leadership change, over five months after the Mumbai Indians shocked many by declaring Hardik Pandya as their new captain, replacing Rohit Sharma.

Even though he is rumored to be distant from current captain Hardik Pandya—the man he would lead India to victory in the Twenty20 World Cup—Rohit has been putting the captaincy controversy aside and appears to be very committed in the Mumbai squad. In advance of that, when questioned about the captaincy drama at the franchise, Rohit admitted that things don't always work out for players.

"See, it is part of life. Not everything will go your way. It has been a great experience," Rohit said. "Before (also), I have not been captain and I have played under a lot of captains. It is no different or new to me.”

Rohit Sharma is tied with MS Dhoni for most IPL championships won as captain with five. During his ten-year term as franchise captain from the middle of the 2013 season to 2023, Rohit guided the Mumbai Indians won the prestigious IPL trophy in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. However, Mumbai’s form hasn’t been good in the ongoing IPL under Hardik Pandya as they are at the bottom of the points table till now.
