Playing 100 games in any format is a blessing and very few have the privilege of touching the landmark. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) assistant skipper Nitish Rana reached the milestone of 100 Indian Premier League (IPL) games when he came out to toss against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Not all historic games are as memorable as this one, however, as the southpaw lost his wicket for just four runs after batting in fifth position, slightly lower than his regular position and sacrificing his spot to Shardul Thakur after he had been promoted to top command.
Nitish has scored 2410 runs with an average of 28.35 in his IPL career. He has the highest innings of 87 and has 210 fours and 126 sixes in his pocket. He's hit 16 fifties with a batting average of 135.77.
The Delhi batsman has represented both Mumbai Indians (MI) and KKR in his 100 IPL games since his debut in 2016. He also has 2414 under his belt with a batting average of 135 with over 125 sixes.
However, Rana's wicket fell when KKR's score was 88 at the end of 10.4 overs as Afghan batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored the bulk of the goals for his side.
At the time of writing, 15 overs have been completed with 134 on the board and no further batsmen have been fired.
Gujarat spinner Rashid Khan is ready for his 100th IPL appearance. Former SRH ace Rashid has claimed a total of 126 scalps as of 8.30pm. He has a savings rate of 6.49. In IPL 2023 he claimed 14 scalps from seven games. Rashid has 17 scalps against KKR and may become the eighth bowler with more than 20 wickets.
