Indian national cricket team all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy made an interesting revelation about his historic Test century against Australia national cricket team during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. In a podcast with Puma he shared that he was actually wearing Virat Kohli’s shoes when he reached the milestone.

Playing in the fourth Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Reddy stepped up when India was struggling. He smashed 114 runs off 189 balls giving his team a fighting chance. However despite his heroics India lost the match by 184 runs and eventually lost the series 3-1.
But what made this century even more special was what he was wearing on his feet.
During the Puma podcast, Reddy revealed how he ended up with Virat Kohli’s shoes before the match. He recalled the moment when Kohli offered them:
“If you saw my 100, that’s not my shoes, that’s Virat bhai’s shoes. He asked Sarfaraz first, ‘Sarfoo, tera size kya hai?’ Toh Sarfoo said 9 or something. So, he asked me ‘Nitish, what’s your size?’ I was like oh my god, I have to guess this correctly. Even if it’s not my size, I want to take that shoe so badly. So, I said, 10. He’s like, “Oh okay, take these shoes, if you want, you can take’. I was like ‘I want to take’. The next match, I wore that shoe and scored a 100.”
Apart from his Test exploits Nitish Kumar Reddy also spoke about the Indian Premier League (IPL) and his commitment to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He revealed that he received multiple offers from different IPL teams ahead of the auction but chose to stay with his home team.
“To be honest, I got some offers but you know, SRH is one team which I can really connect to them, it's a home team for me, and wanted to make wonders,” he said.
“I just want to perform well and bring that Cup back to SRH, they have shown absolute faith in me and it's my time to show faith on them, give trust on them - there was some talks to get me into the auction from other franchises but the answer was to play for SRH but it wasn't easy no to everyone.”
