Bangladesh’s women cricketers have been rewarded with significant jumps in the latest ICC ODI rankings, following their outstanding performances in the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers. Spearheading the rise are captain Nigar Sultana Joty and opener Sharmin Akhter, both achieving career-best rankings after standout displays with the bat.

In a memorable match against Thailand, Nigar Sultana smashed a brilliant century (101 off 117 balls), earning her the Player of the Match award. She followed that up with a composed 51 against Ireland. These two key innings helped her surge 16 places in the ODI batting rankings, climbing to a career-best 17th with 563 rating points—also her highest to date.

Teammate Sharmin Akhter was not far behind. With an unbeaten 94 against Thailand and 24 against Ireland, she moved up 11 spots to claim 29th place in the batting rankings.

In that same match against Thailand, Rabeya Khan and Fahima Khatun etched their names into the history books by each taking a five-wicket haul—a feat never before seen in women’s ODI cricket, and only once before in the men’s game. Rabeya’s heroics earned her a 7-place jump to No. 23 among ODI bowlers, while Fahima moved up 3 spots to 48th.

All-rounder Ritu Moni also impressed with a crucial unbeaten 67 off 61 balls against Ireland, propelling her 16 spots up to 88th in the batting rankings.

Meanwhile, promising fast bowler Marufa Akter continues her rise, climbing 6 places to sit at No. 60 in the bowling rankings.
