Sunil Narine, who missed Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) previous IPL 2025 match due to illness, has returned to training and is expected to be available for selection for their upcoming game against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Monday evening at Wankhede Stadium.
It is understood that Narine fell ill on the morning of KKR's last match, which they won in Guwahati against Rajasthan Royals (RR), prompting Moeen Ali to take his place in the lineup.
It is understood that Narine required medical attention but returned to the team hotel in the evening and took part in the celebrations with the rest of the squad.
Narine, who has been an integral part of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) since his debut season in 2012, was one of their standout performers in the opening-night loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at home in Kolkata. Despite a slow start, Narine managed to score a valuable 44 off 26 balls, helping KKR recover after a tough beginning. He also contributed with the ball, finishing with figures of 1 for 27.
However, despite his efforts, KKR ultimately fell short, losing by seven wickets in a competitive encounter. Narine’s all-round performance highlighted his importance to the team, but KKR couldn't capitalize on his contributions as they succumbed to defeat.
