Following Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) triumph in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) final, reports have now surfaced that franchise captain MS Dhoni is likely to undergo a series of tests for his knee injury.

The Indian Premier League 2023 finally came to a fitting end as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lifted the title for the fifth time. The IPL 2023 Finals came to an exciting conclusion at Narendra Modi Stadium with a thrilling final match between CSK and Gujarat Titans (GT). The MS Dhoni-led side currently share the title with Mumbai Indians and are the competition's most successful team in the last 16 seasons thanks to their fifth triumph.

CSK captain MS Dhoni, who became the most successful player in the history of the franchise, is likely to undergo various tests for his serious knee injury, which hampered him throughout the 2023 IPL season.

"CSK captain Dhoni will be admitted to Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai this week for a series of tests related to his knee injury," reports said.

Throughout IPL 2023, Dhoni's retirement has been one of the main talking points of the season given the stage in his cricket career he is at. In the post-match interview after the final, Harsha Bhogle inquired about the former Indian player's return to IPL 2024, to which Dhoni said it all depended on his body and fitness level at the time.

"Looking for an answer? As you know, this is the best time for me to announce my retirement. But the amount of love and affection I've had, wherever I've been this year... I think the easiest thing for me would be to say thank you, but the hardest thing for me would be to be tough for nine months work and come back and play at least one more IPL season. But a lot depends on the body,” added MS.
