Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi on Tuesday strongly criticized PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf for making comments against Babar Azam's team to the media in the middle of the ICC World Cup 2023 campaign in India.

Former captain Shahid Afridi has criticized Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf for his handling of the country's cricket affairs in light of the Pakistan cricket team's disappointing performance in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023.

While speaking to a local news channel, Afridi stated that Ashraf should focus on his responsibilities instead of making unnecessary statements.

“For God’s sake, you are the chairman, just deliver results and do your job. People only talk about you because you give them this opportunity, Zaka Ashraf Sahab, stick to what you are supposed to do. The team is playing a World Cup and you are making one statement after another. Sometimes it’s about Babar and sometimes it’s about someone else,” Afridi said.

“People talk about you because you allowed them to talk about you. You concentrate on your work. The team plays the World Cup and you make statements. Please concentrate on your job, we are cricketers and we have hopes for you.

Afridi also expressed surprise at Ashraf's actions.

“Zaka Ashraf is the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, not a club. I am surprised why he is calling media house owners about people who are speaking against him,” he further added.
