Australia beat Pakistan by 29 runs in a 7-over game on Thursday (November 14) at the Gabba, Brisbane. Blistering innings from Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis helped Australia get to 93 runs in 7 overs. In reply, Nathan Ellis and Xavier Bartlett ran riot to reduce Pakistan to 64-9 after 7 to help Aussies have a healthy 29-run victory.
Being asked to bat first after the rain, Australia got off to a quick start. But both the openers Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matthew Short perished in quick succession. In walking, Glenn Maxwell at No. 3 and took Naseem Shah for four fours on the trot. Haris bowled superbly in the first over but was hammered away in the second over by Maxwell as he blasted 43 off 19 deliveries.
In the last over, Marcus Stoinis teared apart Naseem Shah as he bludgeoned him for 20 runs off the final over to power Australia to 93 runs after 7 overs.
In reply, Pakistan succumbed infront of the mountain. Sahibzada Fahim hit two boundaries off the first over but Spencer Johnson had him in the fourth delivery. And then Xavier Bartlett came in to remove Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan for a two-ball duck and had Usman Khan in the last delivery. In the third over, Nathan Ellis ran riot and picked up two wickets to reduce Pakistan stuttering to 16-5 after 3 overs.
Abbash Afridi smashed some delightful boundaries as Pakistan managed to get only 64 runs losing 9 wickets. Zampa in the last over had two and Australia won the game by a very healthy margin of 29 runs.
