Former Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said the reason for taking Tanzid Hasan Tamim in the World Cup team. He basically gave his own opinion about why Tanzid was ahead of other openers.

Discussions about the World Cup team are not diminishing. There is more discussion about Tamim Iqbal. He asked himself not to keep him in the squad as he could not accept the plan of the team management. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had a meeting with Mashrafe to discuss the World Cup team.

Mashrafe posted a video on his official Facebook page. Where he discussed the World Cup team. He divided the squad into six parts.

“I planned to discuss the 15 who left the country for the World Cup. But unexpectedly I stayed away from this discussion when other discussions came up. If we want to analyze this team, then we have to divide it into six parts. Top order, middle order, late middle order, spin department, pace department, and fielding,” Mashrafe said.

As Tamim Iqbal was not there, another Tamim went with the team to the World Cup. Litton will open the innings for sure. Who will be his partner is the big question. The team management must have breathed a sigh of relief after seeing the opening pair of Litton-Tanzid in the first World Cup warm-up match against Sri Lanka where both scored half-centuries. At the same time, Mashrafe sees Litton's return in form as a positive.

“If we discuss the top order, we can see that two specialist openers are in this team - Litton and Tanzid. I think these two will open and Miraz will play as a makeshift opener and Shanto at No. 3. This is the top order we see but there is a lot of talk about Litton. Litton is the type of cricketer who can take the game a long way,” Mashrafe added.

Naim Sheikh and Anamul Haque Bijoy got a chance in the Asia Cup. But no one could use the opportunity. However, Bijoy was not given a chance in the New Zealand series. But Mashrafe also said why Tanzid was ahead of Zakir, Naim and Bijoy.

“The thing about Tanzid - he likes to play shots. That's probably why the management preferred him over other options,” Mashrafe further said.
