Australia thumped South Africa in the 2nd T20I by 8 wickets and 31 balls to spare on Saturday (2nd September). Mitchell Marsh and Matt Short's unbelievable hitting left South Africa stutter.

Australia winning the toss and they surprisingly chose to bowl first. Being put into bat first, Temba Bavuma aided South Africa to a flying start. He smacked 10 in the first over off Hardie and then went for scoring 13 in Behrendorff's over. Mitchell Marsh tried with something new and brought in Matthew Short. Unfortunately his plan backfired as Bavuma took 13 off him.

Sean Abbott came in the fourth over and picked up the on song Bavuma in the very first ball off the over. Then Nathan Ellis came and took the wickets of Reeza Hendricks and Dewald Brevis in consecutive balls and bowled a double wicket maiden. Australia pulled things back nicely as South Africa fell to 46-4 from 36-0. And then Markram and Tristan Stubbs stiched a brilliant partnership of 51 runs before Stubbs fell to Behrendorff after scoring 27 off 20 balls.

However Markram kept things going as he made a match saving 49 off just 38 deliveries with 128.7 strike rate. At the end, Lungi Ngidi's 11 off 7 helped South Africa post 164 on the board after alloted 20 overs.

Nathan Ellis was the standout performer from Australia as he picked up 3 crucial wickets and conceded only 25 runs. Sean Abbott was lethal as he too got 3 wickets. Jason Behrendorff bagged 2 in his pocket.

In reply of 165, Australia started very well as Head and Matt Short had a 32 run opening stand before the former fell to Willaims scoring 18 off 17 balls. Since then it was Australia's day. Marsh and Short started to whack the protea bowlers for fun. They hit everything that came towards them. The duo added a humongous 100 run stand and kicked South Africa out of the game. Matt Short scored a swashbuckling 66 off just 30 deliveries. While Mitchell Marsh was running riot again. He made an unbeaten 76* off only 39 balls and won the match for Australia with 31 balls to spare and 8 wickets in hand. Another thumping win for Aussies and they now secured the series as well.
