Mark Chapman has been included in the New Zealand ODI squad for the upcoming series against Pakistan after leveling the five-game T20I series 2-2 with Rawalpindi with the bat.

Mark Chapman has been included in the BLACKCAPS ODI squad for the five-matches series against Pakistan, which begins Thursday in Rawalpindi.

Head Coach Gary Stead said Chapman's performances throughout the T20 series have been extremely convincing. “The way Mark played against one of the best T20 bowling tackles in the world was nothing short of outstanding.

Chapman was called up for his impressive performances in the T20I series, where he finished as the top run scorer with 290 runs in five games. His running record is the highest of any player in a five-game T20I series. The series ended 2-2, with Chapman hitting an unbeaten 57-ball 104 in the fifth T20I to stun the hosts after New Zealand won 26-3 in a 194 chase.

Chapman has played seven ODIs to date, including two for Hong Kong. He played his first ODI for New Zealand in 2018 and last played in the format in July 2022 when he scored a match-winning 101* against Scotland.

"The way Mark played against one of the best T20 bowling tackles in the world was just outstanding," said New Zealand head coach Gary Stead. "His match-winning knocl in the fifth and deciding game was something very special and we're delighted to have someone in such strong form join our ODI roster."

Tom Blundell and Henry Nicholls will join the squad at Rawalpindi for the ODIs while Dane Cleaver, who was part of the T20Is, will return home.

The ODIs begin in Rawalpindi on April 26, with the final three games in Karachi. The final will take place on May 7th.
