Bangladesh's much talked about only Test against Afghanistan is in the middle of next month. Regular captain Shakib Al Hasan is unlikely to play in this match as he is out of the field due to injury. Vice-captain Litton Das will lead the team in his absence.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon confirmed the matter while talking to the media on Friday (May 26). He said, “If Shakib Al Hasan is injured, the vice-captain will be the captain. Litton is vice-captain. I know that.”

The only Test between host Bangladesh and visiting Afghanistan will start on June 14, the venue of which is the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, known as the 'home of cricket'. After this match, the Afghans will go on a tour of India and will return in July. The three matches of the ODI series will be held on July 5, July 8, and July 11. After that, two T20Is will be held on July 14 and 16. The venue of the ODI series is Chattogram and, the venue of the T20I series is Sylhet.

Although the team for the Test series is yet to be announced, the selection panel has hinted that the squad will be announced within this month. Meanwhile, Bangladesh are looking at this match very seriously as they lost only one Test against Afghanistan at home in the past. Therefore, before the match, the cricketers of the Bangladesh team will practice for 2 weeks, and the members of the limited-overs team will also be there.
