New Zealand have named strong T20I squads for next month's tours of the United Arab Emirates and England and made some couple of maiden call-ups.

New Zealand Cricket recently announced their squads for the upcoming T20I series against UAE. It is worth noting that the Black Caps take on UAE in a three-game T20I series from August 17-20 in Dubai. In announcing their squad, the most notable inclusion was pacer Kyle Jamieson, who is set to make his comeback to the side after a lengthy injury layoff.

New Zealand have announced their T20 squads for upcoming tours of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and England. They will play a three-game T20I series against the United Arab Emirates between 17-20 August 2023 in Dubai. The Kiwis will then travel to England for the four-game T20I series, played August 30-September 5.

Tim Southee will lead the New Zealand team on both tours. Two uncapped players, Dean Foxcroft and Adi Ashok, have been included in the squad for the UAE leg following their outstanding performances in domestic cricket.

However, those players will return to the squad when New Zealand head to England for a four-game T20I series (30 August - 5 September) that follows immediately after the UAE tour. Foxcroft, Ashok and five other players - Chad Bowes, Dane Cleaver, Cole McConchie, Henry Shipley and Will Young - will also travel to England where they will not be part of the T20I squad but will be battling for the two T20 warm-up games against Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.

According to the NZC press release announcing the squads, all-rounders James Neesham and Mitchell Santner, selected for both tours, have secured short-term deals allowing them to play the closing stages of The Hundred in the UK between the UAE and England's T20Is.

Kane Williamson and Michael Bracewell were the two players not available for selection as they are currently recovering from injuries. Additionally, as several new names were added to the roster, head coach Gary Stead spoke up to think about it.

“It's always exciting to introduce new players to the BlackCaps environment, especially when they're on the younger side like Adi and Dean. Dean has put on a really consistent performance domestically and that was borne out by the awards he picked up in March. He's a talented and adaptable batter who also throws useful off spin, so he'll complement our spinning stocks, which are always appreciated in white ball cricket," Gary Stead was quoted as saying.
