India’s team selection for the second Test against New Zealand in Pune brought an end to the heated debate surrounding out-of-form KL Rahul and in-form Sarfaraz Khan. Following India's disappointing eight-wicket defeat in the first Test in Bengaluru, the focus shifted to whether KL Rahul should retain his spot or make way for Sarfaraz.

At the toss, India’s captain Rohit Sharma confirmed the changes, including the much-anticipated decision to drop Rahul in favor of Sarfaraz Khan.KL Rahul's recent form has been a topic of concern. In the first Test in Bengaluru, Rahul managed just a duck and 12 runs on his home ground, M Chinnaswamy Stadium. This performance followed a string of low scores in his recent Test outings, with only three fifty-plus scores in his last 20 Test innings.

His recent performances in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, where he scored 16, 22*, and 68, did little to solidify his place in the Indian Test team.
