Josh Hazlewood ruled out of second Test, uncapped pace duo called up

Hazlewood was also Australia's best pacer, when Australia last time played against India at the Adelaide Oval, picking up 5-8 in five overs as India were slumped for one of their Test lows, 36.

Australia's ace pacer Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the second Test against India with a side strain. Uncapped pace duo; Sean Abbott and Brendan Doggett have both been added to the squad.

Josh Hazlewood was Australia's best bowler in the first innings in the series opener, returning with figures of 4-29 in the first innings, where India were all-out for 150. Hazlewood was also Australia's best pacer, when Australia last time played against India at the Adelaide Oval, picking up 5-8 in five overs as India were slumped for one of their Test lows, 36.
However, it’s a second call-up to the Test squad for Brendan Doggett, who previously travelled to the UAE for Test series against Pakistan in October 2018, but did not make his debut. Doggett got the call-up on the back of his career-best 6-15 against India A in Mackay.
While Sean Abbott played 26 ODI's and 20 T20I's for Australia but yet to make his Test debut for the Aussies.
Hazlewood's injury has opened up the doors for Scott Boland, having last played a Test match in July 2023 at Headingley in the Ashes.
