In India's last Test series in Australia back in 2014-15 season, Ashwin had played three matches after beinng rested in the opening Test and taken 12 wickets at an average of 48.66 and strike-rate of 85.80 to finish as India's second-highest wicket-taker after Mohammed Shami (15).
This time around, Jones backed Ashwin to have an even better series when India play the hosts in four Tests starting from December 6 in Adelaide.
“I’m expecting Ashwin to have a ripper of a series. He had a good series last time India were here, and had he played in that first Test in Adelaide, India might have won the series,” said Jones.
He is also of the opinion that it is the best ever chance for India to break the deadlock and finally win a Test series Down Under.
