England's World Cup squad has been announced recently. Harry Brook got a place there. But there was no place for Jason Roy. Jofra Archer, who has been suffering from an elbow injury for a long time, has also not been kept in the World Cup squad by England. But Archer did not go beyond the plan of the English. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) selector Luke Wright said that Archer will be taken with the team for the World Cup in India.
Regarding taking Archer to the World Cup with the team, Wright said, "The best thing for Jofra is to travel with the team and keep working with his rehab and being around the physios and the team. We are doing all we can to get him ready to be as good as he can be.
"If there was an injury he might be able to replace at the back end of the tournament, but obviously we are still working on his fitness day-by-day and we'll have to keep accessing that."
The fast bowler played his last series against Bangladesh this year, his comeback series in the international cricket after recovering from injury. But he suffered from elbow injury again. However, this pacer has not played any match in the current season of England.
Archer was England's trump card in the 2019 World Cup. He took 20 wickets in the tournament. However, due to injury, Archer had to spend most of this period out of the field. He has been out of the field since the last IPL game. He couldn't play any international match for England, didn't even play in the last Ashes.
The ODI World Cup will start on October 5 in India. The tournament will end with the final on November 19.
