England have named their XI for the first ODI against India, which is set to be played on Thursday (February 6) in Nagpur. Star batter Joe Root has returned to the ODI lineup for the first time since 2023.

Joss Buttler will lead the ODI side after a devastating T20I series, where Insia crushed England by 4-1. However, this will be a significant encounter for both the teams as this will be both India and England's last preparatory series ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Ben Duckett and Phil Salt will play the opening role, while Joe Root has been slotted to bat at No. 3. Harry Brook will come at No. 4 and skipper Jos Buttler will bat at fifth position.

England have picked up two all-rounder options in Liam Livingstone and Jacob Bethell. The pace attack will be led by Jofra Archer and he'll have company in Brydon Carse and Saqib Mahmood. Adil Rashid is their only spin in the XI, but Livingstone could be very handy if they need some more overs to bowl with spin.
