As India prepares for the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, vice-captain and star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has revealed the team's success mantra. With India heading into the series after winning their last two tours in Australia, expectations are high, and the noise surrounding the team is louder than ever.
Jasprit Bumrah, who will likely lead the Indian side in the first Test due to Rohit Sharma's absence for personal reasons, shared that the key to success lies in "self-belief." In an interview with 7Cricket, Bumrah emphasized the importance of focusing on preparation and maintaining confidence, especially in challenging conditions like Australia.
“Self-belief matters the most in any condition. That is what we are banking on and that is the conversation we are having in our team. When you focus on yourself and focus on your preparation, then that puts you in a great position and everything else will take care of itself,” said Bumrah.
The defending champions are entering the series with the added challenge of recovering from a disappointing 0-3 home series loss to New Zealand. Bumrah himself had a forgettable series, but he is determined to bounce back in Australia, where he has previously played a pivotal role in India’s historic victories.
The first Test match is set to begin on November 22 in Perth, where India will be looking to start strong despite the absence of their regular captain, Rohit Sharma. Following the Perth opener, the series will continue at some of Australia's most iconic venues:
- 2nd Test: Adelaide Oval (Day-Night) – December 6 to 10
- 3rd Test: The Gabba, Brisbane – December 14 to 18
- 4th Test: Melbourne Cricket Ground (Boxing Day Test) – December 26 to 30
- 5th Test: Sydney Cricket Ground – January 3 to 7
