Jaffna Titans secured a commanding 39-run victory over Hambantota Bangla Tigers in the Lanka T10 League. A stellar performance by Kusal Mendis and David Wiese powered Jaffna to 124 runs, while disciplined bowling skittled Hambantota out for just 85 runs in 9.3 overs.

Opting to bat first after losing the toss, Jaffna Titans displayed aggressive intent right from the start. Openers Kusal Mendis and Tom Kohler-Cadmore began confidently, with Kohler-Cadmore falling for 10 early on. However, Kusal Mendis took charge, smashing 47 off 25 balls, including boundary-studded partnerships with Tom Abell and David Wiese.

David Wiese’s unbeaten cameo of 18 runs off just five balls ensured Jaffna reached a daunting total of 124/4 in their allotted 10 overs.

Chasing 125, Hambantota Bangla Tigers crumbled under early pressure, losing key batters Mohammad Shahzad, Dasun Shanaka, and Kusal Perera within the powerplay. By the time they reached 8 runs, they had already lost three wickets.

A brief fightback came from Sabbir Rahman, who smashed two sixes in his 15-run innings off seven balls. Mosaddek Hossain also tried to stabilize the chase but was dismissed immediately after hitting a six.

Isuru Udana’s 23 runs was the highest individual score for Hambantota, but it wasn’t enough as they were bundled out for 85 in just 9.3 overs.
