In what comes as bad news to Indian cricket team, Ravindra Jadeja is unlikely to play the first Test at Adelaide Oval against
starting on December 17. Team
will dearly miss the services of productive all-rounder.
Jadeja is a complete all-rounder package but unfortunately, he could not take the field because he sustained a concussion and hamstring injury during the T20I opener at Manuka Oval in Canberra. He scored an unbeaten 44 off 23 balls including 5 fours and a six.
After India's batting, the 32-year-old felt a bit dizzy and hence he could not take the field.
came as a concussion substitute and helped India take important wickets. He outsmarted
, Steven Smith and
. He was awarded the man of the match.
Jadeja did not play the second T20I match as well. The BCCI medical team monitored the extent of his injury and the all-rounder could miss the first Test as he will be out of action for at least 3 weeks. The effective all-rounder was also pretty good in the dead rubber ODI where he scored 66 off 50.
Jadeja ruled out of practice game:
The all-rounder is also ruled out of the three-day (D/N) practice game. Acording to ICC's concussion rules, a cricketer has to rest for at least 7 to 10 days in case of a head injury. The BCCI source told news agency PTI that Jadeja would be out of the warm-up game at the SCG from December 11.
In this case, it would be difficult for the Indian team management to field Jadeja without any practice game ahead of first Test at Adelaide Oval. “As per ICC’s concussion protocols, after any head injury, a player needs to be rested for 7 to 10 days, which effectively rules Jadeja out of the three-day day/night warm-up game at the SCG from December 11.
Therefore, it is next to impossible that the Indian team management would field Jadeja, without any warm-up game time ahead of the opening Test,” a BCCI source told PTI.
