India thrashed Australia by 99 runs (DLS method) on Sunday (September 24th) at Holker Cricket Stadium, Indore. Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer's glorious dual centuries followed by some blitzkrieg late hitting from Suryakumar Yadav saw them scoring a massive 399 on the board. Aussies crumbled while chasing the total and were skittled by a measly 217 runs and lost the game by 99 runs, as well as the series by 2-0 with one game to spare.

Earlier, Australian stand in skipper Steve Smith won the toss and chose to bowl first. After being put into bat first, Josh Hazlewood removed Ruturaj Gaikwad earlier of their innings. And then the carnge started. Gill and Iyer put on a show in Indore and exploited the advantage to the belter of a pitch very well. The duo's partnership was worth of 200 runs where both of them were gearing at same pace. However Iyer notched up his hundred and made 105 off just 90 balls, where his partner Gill scored 104 oft only 97 deliveries.

After the departure of these centurions, skipper KL Rahul started to take on the Aussie bowlers and kept the run rate going. Ishan Kishan too joined him and the this time they had a partnership of 59 runs. Ishan scored a quick-fire 31 off 18 balls, where KL was bowled by Green before scoring 52 off 38 balls. The final nail of the coffin was from Suryakumar Yadav.

Suryakumar Yadav was absolute on a beast mood tonight. Bludgeoning the Aussie bowlers at every side of the park. And scored a swashbuckling 72 off only 37 deliveries with a jaw dropping strike rate of 194.06. His innings was orchestrated by 6 massive bonkers and 6 boundaries. However India added 399 on the board after alloted 50 overs.

In reply of a mountainous 400, Aussie got their first blow when they lost their opener Matt Short in the second over of the innings, their talismanic Steve Smith too followed a widish delivery of Prasidh Krishna and found a thick edge and gone for a golden duck. David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne had a partnership of 80 runs before rain came and after the hiatus for rain the target reduced to 317. However after the rain, Ashwin picked up 3 wickets in spare of only 9 deliveries and left Aussies bamboozled. Those wickets were David Warner - Marnus Labuschagne and Josh Inglis. And Aussies were stuttering for 101-5. Alex Carey was bowled by Jadeja and they lost another one. Cameron Green yet again unluckily got run out and Australia found themselves into a deep trouble.

Their tail wagged and helped them reducing the deficit. Courtesy some outstanding hitting from Sean Abbott and Josh Hazlewood. Abott went for scoring a fighting 54 off 36 balls and Hazlewood scored 23 off 16 balls and Aussies were bundled for a paltry 217 and lost the match by 99 runs. With the loss, they now lost the 3 match ODI series by 0-2 with one game to spare.
