Recently, Shakib Al Hasan got the responsibility of the new ODI captain of Bangladesh. The Tigers will play under the leadership of Shakib in the upcoming Asia Cup and ODI World Cup.
There has been a lot of confusion on the captaincy issue. ODI captain Tamim Iqbal stepped down from the captaincy despite returning later after announcing his retirement. Before the World Cup, the big question was who would be the ODI captain. Later, the cricket board chose Shakib as the new ODI captain. Shakib is currently playing for Galle Titans in the Lanka Premier League (LPL). There he said that he wants to do well in the upcoming World Cup.
During the match in LPL, off-field presenter Ridhima Pathak congratulated Shakib on getting the captaincy. In response, Shakib said, 'It (captaincy) is nothing new for me. Yes, it is a big challenge for our team, to show how much we have improved in the last four years. We have a great opportunity to do well in this World Cup. I think we have a good team. We are playing well in white-ball cricket. Now it's time to show everyone how good we are.”
Currently, the preparation camp of the national team is going on ahead of the Asia Cup and the World Cup. However, Shakib is currently in Sri Lanka to play LPL for Galle.
