The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction is set to make headlines once again, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finalized the dates and venue for the highly anticipated event. In a groundbreaking move, the mega auction will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25, 2025. This marks only the second time the IPL auction will take place outside India, following the IPL 2024 auction held in Dubai at the Coca-Cola Arena.
Historic Venue for IPL 2025 Auction
The decision to hold the IPL auction in Jeddah reflects the tournament's growing global appeal. Jeddah, one of Saudi Arabia's largest cities, is set to host the two-day auction event, further emphasizing the international influence of the IPL. The dates of November 24 and 25 also coincide with the ongoing India vs. Australia Test series, as the auction will take place during the third and fourth days of the first Test match in Perth.
Over 1,500 Players Register for IPL 2025 Auction
A staggering 1,574 players have registered for the IPL 2025 auction, including 1,165 Indian players and 409 overseas players. The list features 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players, and 30 players from associate nations. Notably, there are 48 capped Indian cricketers in the pool, while 272 capped international players have thrown their names into the hat.
This includes 965 uncapped Indian players, along with 104 uncapped international cricketers. Among the international representations, Australia leads with 76 players registered for the auction, while South Africa has 91 cricketers. England and New Zealand have 52 and 39 players respectively, and Afghanistan and Sri Lanka are tied with 29 players each.
Despite the large pool of registrants, only 204slots are available, with each team having a maximum of 25 players in their squad.

IPL 2025 Auction Purse Details
With each team working within a total budget of INR 120 crore, Punjab Kings enter the auction with the largest purse at INR 110.5 crore. They have retained only two uncapped players, Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh, for INR 9.5 crore, giving them significant spending power.
On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals hold the smallest remaining budget with INR 41 crore, after retaining six players. Kolkata Knight Riders are in a similar position with INR 51 crore, having also retained six players ahead of the auction.
