Speculation was rife about MS Dhoni's retirement during Chennai Super Kings' recent IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capitals at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. Fans noticed Dhoni’s parents in the crowd sparking talk that the match could be his final one at Chepauk. But the 43-year-old has now cleared the air.

In a pre-recorded podcast with Raj Shamani Dhoni addressed the rumours and confirmed that he hasn't made a retirement decision yet.

“No, not right now. I am still playing the IPL. I have kept it very simple, I take it one year at a time. I am 43, by the time IPL 2025 finishes, I will be 44, so after that I have 10 months to decide if I would play or not,” Dhoni said.

Dhoni emphasized that his physical fitness will be the key factor in whether or not he continues beyond IPL 2025.

“But it is not me deciding, it is my body that decides. So, one year at a time, we will see after that,” he added

This statement comes shortly after Dhoni played a 30(26)* knock in CSK’s 25-run loss to Delhi Capitals, where he struggled to accelerate the chase. While the fans speculated about a possible farewell Dhoni’s calm and measured response shows he’s not done just yet.
