Indian national cricket team player Ishan Kishan made a statement in the IPL 2025 season smashing an unbeaten century in his new Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) colors. In an impressive performance against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium Kishan’s unbeaten 106 off just 47 balls powered SRH to a 44-run victory on Sunday.

The wicketkeeper-batter who was picked up by SRH for a hefty INR 11.25 crore after being released by Mumbai Indians (MI) made an immediate impact. Batting at No.3 Kishan wasted no time in capitalizing on the strong start provided by openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head. His explosive innings featured 11 boundaries and six towering sixes, helping SRH post a massive 286/6 which was the second-highest team total in IPL history.
After a challenging 2024 season where Kishan lost his BCCI contract and missed out on the T20 World Cup squad this century was not just a performance it was a message. Former England national cricket team captain Michael Vaughan believes that Kishan’s wild celebrations after reaching the milestone were directed at Indian selectors and captain Rohit Sharma.
“That celebration wasn’t just a celebration for three figures. That was a celebration maybe to Mumbai, maybe to the chairman of selectors, maybe to Rohit Sharma, maybe to the whole of India, maybe to the whole of the world. He’s a wonderfully balanced player,” Vaughan told Cricbuzz.
"I'd love to be the chairman of selectors. The meetings would be long because you have so many players to talk about, and you'd be saying, sorry, Ishan, you're not even in the top five at the moment. The talent pool in Indian cricket is monstrous. And the only way you can push yourselves into that setup is by doing remarkable things. And in T20 cricket, I think of all the formats to get a century at T20 cricket is the hardest format to get it," Vaughan said
