Indian National Cricket team batter KL Rahul has put to rest any doubts surrounding his fitness ahead of the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in Perth. With men in blue skipper Rohit Sharma likely to miss the opening match, Rahul could play a pivotal role as India prepares for the high-stakes series.
After sustaining a blow to his elbow during a practice match, Rahul was seen back in action at the WACA nets on Sunday, easing concerns about his availability. In a video shared by the BCCI, Rahul admitted to the initial injury but expressed his readiness for the upcoming challenge. "I got a bad hit on day one of the game,” he said, but reassured fans, “I'm feeling good, and I'm battered today. I’ve got a lot of time preparing for the series, and I'm excited and looking forward to it.”
Furthermore the Indian team’s physiotherapists, Kamlesh Jain and Yogesh Parmar, also confirmed that Rahul's injury wasn't serious. Jain stated, “It has been 48 hours since the impact, and he has responded well to the treatment." Parmar added, “From a medical point of view, he is absolutely fine.”
With Rahul back in the nets and eager to take the field, India will be banking on him to deliver at the top order as they gear up for the Border-Gavaskar series opener on November 22. It must be noted that India's pace ace Jasprit Bumrah is set to lead team India in absence of Rohit Sharma in the first Test.
