The International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed its candidates for Player of the Month for March 2025 on Tuesday. They are New Zealand's Rachin Ravindra and Jacob Duffy, and India's Shreyas Iyer.
Rachin Ravindra
Rachin Ravindra, another star player of the 2025 Champions Trophy, was also nominated for his all-round excellence. Ravindra amassed 151 runs in three games in March at an average of 50.33 and strike rate of 106.33. He also had three wickets with a fine economy rate of 4.66. His highest score was against South Africa in the semifinal, when he played an amazing 108 runs, his second century during the tournament. This victory along with his batting alongside Kane Williamson made New Zealand gain a record-breaking score in Champions Trophy history.
Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer was an important player in India's middle order in the victorious 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. The right-handed batsman made 172 runs from three ODIs in March, with an average of 57.33 and a strike rate of 77.47, to become India's leading scorer in the tournament.
Iyer's contributions were instrumental in India's winning run. His top score of 79 runs came in the match against New Zealand in Group A. He smashed a powerful 45 runs in the semi-final against Australia and a calm 48 runs in the top-of-the-table fixture against the Black Caps, leading India to the title.
His capability of dictating the innings and forming partnerships was instrumental in taking India through pivotal stages throughout the tournament.
New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy, the emerging pacer, was chosen for his impressive performances during the home white-ball series against Pakistan. Duffy picked 13 wickets during the T20I series and topped the wicket-takers with an average of 8.38 and an economy rate of 6.17. His exceptional form saw him rise to the number one position in the ICC Men's T20I Bowling Rankings. Duffy also picked up two wickets in the ODI against Pakistan, taking his tally to 15 in as many matches last month.
