Ace Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has opened the position of BCB in the issue of their role to make him (Shakib) play in the Asia Cup 2018.

Clarifying that he was not at all ‘forced’ by the highest authority of cricket in the country to participate in the recently concluded Asia Cup, 2018 in Dubai, Shakib Al Hasan told to one of the leading dailies of Bangladesh Prothom Alo that he never told so like the way it has been floating around since then. "I was never forced to take part in the Asia Cup by the board. I never said anything like it nor the board president insisted anything as such, so don't know why there is so much controversy regarding it," he said. Failing to continue with the pain in his little finger, Shakib left for the country before the vital clash against Pakistan to reach into the finals of the Asia Cup. He thus added, "I am clearing this for once, BCB president said that if you feel you can play than play, Asia Cup is the biggest tournament after World Cup and Champions Trophy so naturally I wanted to participate. I took the decision after talking with the physio and the infection was sustained unexpectedly. I am not sure why I am always dragged into controversy." He is now undergoing through the rehabilitation program after returning from Australia on October 14 where he consulted with the physicians about the condition of his left hand little finger. Controversy prevailing all around when physicians in Dhaka discovered severe level of infection in Shakib's hand after returning from Dubai. It has been voiced that the prolific performer was forced to play in the Asia Cup by cricket board officials which eventually led his injury condition getting worsened.
