The first match of the two-match T20 series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan was full of drama. The match was swinging like a pendulum! Sometimes it went in favor of Bangladesh, and sometimes it went in favor of Afghans. But before the end, Shamim Hossain and Towhid Hridoy secured the win for Bangladesh.

After Shakib Al Hasan got out, many might have given up hope of a win. Bangladesh lost four wickets for 64 runs in 10.1 overs. Two young batter Shamim and Hridoy rescued the team from here. They made a great partnership of 73 runs off 43 balls. They planned to win the match as soon as Shamim came to the crease.

Hridoy said in the press conference, "I told Shamim that you and I are both batters. We have won many matches like this in domestic cricket. Since we bat in the middle-order, we have faced such situations. I said in one word that if we can take momentum in one or two overs, the game would turn around. By God's grace we were able to do that and within two overs the momentum had changed."

However, there is no comparison between international matches and domestic cricket matches or BPL matches. Hridoy added, "No, not like the BPL. I am playing for the national team now. The national team and the BPL are different places. Of course, I feel good to play matches for the national team."

Hridoy also said that winning such matches boosts the confidence of the batters, "This type of match always gives confidence no matter against which team we win. Such matches are rare. As I was there, Alhamdulillah it is very good to finish the match from such a place. Because such a situation doesn't always come. Every batter aims to make good use of it when it comes. Alhamdulillah for being able to do that."

But how do they get that success? Hridoy further said, "We tried to stay positive and always had in our mind that we would play according to the situation."

Notably, Shamim departed after scoring 33 runs off 25 balls. However, Hridoy played an innings of 47 runs from 32 balls without losing his wicket. Hridoy was also the player of the match.
