Bangladesh U-19 cricket team have lost a close match to Pakistan U-19s by one wicket in their last group B match of ACC U-19 Asia Cup 2016 at Galle International Stadium. Pakistan U-19 captain Nasir Nawaz sent U-19 team to bat first after winning the toss. Bangladesh had a slow start to their innings. Captain Saif Hassan scored 32 runs off 60 balls with 7 fours. Youth Tigers lost four wickets for 100 runs in 28.1 overs and were struggling for runs. Afif Hossain Dhrubo and Mohammad Rakib made 77-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Afif accelerated at the end, scoring 80 runs from 94 deliveries hitting 8 fours and 2 sixes. Rakib scored 53-ball 43 with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Bangladesh U-19 were bowled out for 230 runs with a ball to go. Pakistan U-19's Shaheen Khan Afridi, Muhammad Hasnain, Umer Khan and Nasir Nawaz - all took two wickets each. In reply, Bangladesh U-19 bowlers were out under pressure by the two Pakistani openers Muhammad Mohsin Khan and especially Muhammad Zaid. Zaid was run out for scoring a brisk 50 off 32 balls hitting 8 fours and a six. Bangladesh bowlers slowed down the run rate kept their hopes alive for Semi Final. They also took wickets at crucial time. The game came back to the young Tigers suddenly. Pakistan U-19 team lost their ninth wicket for 216 runs in 45.1 overs. The match was all set for a thrilling finish. In the last over, Pakistan needed two runs and Bangladesh required a wicket. Saad Khan and Muhammad Hasnain were at the crease whereas Mukidul Islam was given the ball. The first ball went to the boundary by Hasnain and Pakistan U-19 team won by 1 wicket with five balls to spare. Though Pakistan won, Bangladesh have finished as the number one team of Group B with nine points at Net Run Rate (NRR) of 1.584. Afghanistan have overtaken Pakistan.
