Bhuvneshwar Kumar's miserly spell restricted LSG to 165. In reply, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head came out with all the guns blazing, teared apart the LSG bowlers and left them stutter throughout the innings. The destructive opening duo chased down the total with 10.2 overs to spare and 10 wickets in hands.
In pursuit of 166, SRH scored 8 runs off the first over. And then Abhishek Sharma dispatched Yash Thakur for four delightful boundaries on the trot to start the mayhem. Travis Head ripped through Krishnappa Gowtham, plundering him for 22 runs off the over. Head and Abhishek combined attacked Ravi Bishnoi for 17 off the 4th over and the duo blazed their way to 107 runs inside the powerplay. The southpaw, Head notched up his fifty off only 16 balls, while his partner took 3 more balls to reach to the milestone.
Even after the end of the powerplay, the carnage didn’t stop. Both of them kept attacking the bowlers and chased down the total like it was a cakewalk. Head finished his innings remaining on 89* from only 30 deliveries, whacking 8 monstrous blows and 8 delightful boundaries. Abhishek blasted 75* off 28 delivering, with the help of 6 sixes and 8 boundaries in his innings.
Before the carnage, choosing to bat first, LSG had a sedate way to start their innings. Courtesy to an excellent spell from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and the captain Pat Cummins. Bhuvneshwar was swinging with the both ends and immediately got his rewards, picking up the wickets of Protea superpower De Kock and then Marcus Stoinis for cheaply. KL Rahul crawled his way to 29 and consumed 33 balls to reach their before falling to Cummins and left his team to an utter disgust situation.
However, late blitz from Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni helped them salvage the situation. The duo added 99 runs off only 52 balls, where Badoni scored a brilliant fifty and Pooran made 48 off 26. The duo's excellent stand helped the visitors post 165 on the board. Which ultimately was a very low total infront of the Hyderabad destructive duo of Head and Abhishek who chased down the total like EA Cricket game.
