Amidst significant political changes in Bangladesh, Chandika Hathurusingha remains focused on his coaching duties with the national cricket team. The sudden resignation of Bangladesh's former Prime Minister and the formation of an interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus has sparked calls for changes across various sectors, including cricket.

However, Hathurusingha, currently in Pakistan with the team, expressed his commitment to his contract and readiness to continue if the new administration wishes to retain him.

The people's movement successfully brought down the authoritarian regime, and following Hasina's departure, an interim government was established with Dr. Muhammad Yunus as the Chief Adviser. The new administration has taken over all governmental functions, leading to significant changes across the country, including within the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon has already agreed to step down, while Jalal Yunus, Director of the BCB and former Chairman of Cricket Operations, has also resigned. Amidst these sweeping changes, some are calling for the resignation of Chandika Hathurusingha, the head coach of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team.

Currently, Hathurusingha is with the team in Pakistan for their series. When asked about his future during a press conference, Hathurusingha responded, "I don't know what's happening back home. I have signed a contract till whatever the date. I am looking forward to serve the term. If the board changes, and the new people want to make a change, I am okay with that. If they want to continue with me, I am happy to continue."
