Sri Lanka beat West Indies by 5 wickets to seal another ODI series on Wednesday (October 23). Wanindu Hasaranga shone with a superb four-fer and Maheesh Theekshana and Asitha Fernando shared three-wicket each to restrict West Indies to a paltry 189 runs. In reply, captain Charith Asalanka sparkled with unbeaten 62* off 61 balls to help his side seal the match.

Being inserted to bat first, West Indies didn’t have a solid way as Maheesh Theekshana removed Alick Athanaze and Keacy Carty cheaply. Asitha Fernando then had opener Brandon King and West Indies skipper Shai Hope as the visitors were struggling on 31-4.

It was Sherfane Rutherford and Gudakesh Motie who stood tall for their side as the duo stitched up a wonderful 119-run stand together. Rutherford made a fine 80 off 82 balls and Motie scored an unbeaten 50* off 61 balls as West Indies were all-out for 189 runs.

In reply, Sri Lanka too had a shaky start infront of Alzarri Joseph and Motie. But Nishan Madushka saw the new ball nicely and made a fine 38 off 44 balls before being knocked over to Joseph.

Sadeera Samarawickrama and captain Charith Asalanka stitched partnership to steer the ship for the hosts as the skipper brought up a fine 62* off 61 to help his side get this victory.
