England have thrashed Sri Lanka by a massive margin of 190 runs on Sunday (September 1) at the Lord's. Gus Atkinson's all-round brilliance, along with Joe Root's record-breaking twin hundred assisted England take the series with one game in hands.

Gus Atkinson showed the ultimate all-round prowess, scoring a scintillating hundred in the first innings and then bagged a fifer to hand England a thrashing victory. 
The day started with Chris Woakes removing the night watchman Prabath Jayasuriya earlier on. Dimuth Karunaratne brought up a hardfought fifty as he made 55 off 129 deliveries before Olly Stone got him out. Experienced campaigner Angelo Mathews had a good start, but couldn’t make up a big one as he fell after scoring 36.

Dinesh Chandimal and skipper Dhananjaya De Silva then put up things together to string a partnership. Both of them scored fifties but were unable to make their innings longer.

Chandimal departed to Gus Atkinson, scoring 58 off 62 balls. While De Silva was there and he got Milan Rathnayake with him as the duo added 73 runs under Sri Lanka's belt. But the departure of both of them, reduced the chances of Sri Lanka to chase down the mammoth total.

Sri Lanka then fell like the cards and were all out for 292 runs and lost the second Test match by 190 runs. Gus Atkinson once again came out as the standout bowler of England as he picked up five wickets to his name. While Olly Stone and Chris Woakes shared two wickets each.

Gus Atkinson became the only third English player to score a century and pick up a fifer in the same Test. However, he also was adjusted as the player of the match of this Lord's Test.
