Australia's day in Wellington despite the last two wickets fallen on the backend of the day 2. Australia have a massive lead of 217 runs with 8 wickets still in hands. Cameron Green's blitzkrieg 174* off only 275 deliveries helped Aussies have a stack of 383 runs on the board. Nathan Lyon's 4 fer bundled Kiwis for a paltry 179 runs, which left Aussies edge ahead after day 2 in Wellington.

Earlier, Australia started being 279-9. Josh Hazlewood and Cameron Green then had a huge 116 run stand on 10th wicket, highest 10th wicket partnership for Australia against New Zealand. Cameron Green notched up his 150 in style, smacking the kiwis everywhere of the park. Josh Hazlewood too hit some lusty blows and made a gutsy 22 off 62 balls. While Cameron Green went for scoring his career best, 174 from 275 balls.

In reply, New Zealand were all in sea. The Aussie fast bowlers were running riot as the pitch was assisting some they didn’t need more. They ripped through the Kiwis top order and left them crumbling on 29-5. Two Kiwi superstar Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson went back to the pavilion without disturbing the score.

Glenn Phillips and Tom Blundell then helped Kiwis get out of the hole and stitched 84 run stand, Glenn Phillips counterattack gave New Zealand some momentum but Nathan Lyon's double strike in the same over left New Zealand strutter again.

Coming out to bat in the second innings, Tim Southee struck twice for New Zealand. At first he chopped on Smith for a duck and then got the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne for 2 and Australia were left for 13-2, effectively 217-2.
