Kolkata Knight Riders thumped Sunrisers Hyderabad by on Tuesday (21st May) at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Ahmedabad. Mitchell Starc's deadly spell crashed SRH top order and marginalized them to a middling score of 159. In reply, Venkatesh Iyer and Shreyas Iyer brought up fifties to make the chase a cakewalk for KKR. With the victory KKR have reached to the finals of IPL 2024.

Mitchell Starc bowled a terrific spell with the new ball. Picking up the wickets of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma inside the four overs and then had Ahmed Shahbaz before the end of the powerplay. After winning the man of the match award in the Qualifier 1, Mitchell Starc said he just wanted to bowl stump to stump and not provide them width.

"We know how important the powerplay is. These were the two sides who have dominated in the powerplay with the bat. We needed to pick early wickets and get into their middle-order. The way Head and Abhishek have been playing thoughout the tournament, they like width and free their arms. We just tried to swing the ball and not provide them width. Bowl stump to stump and tried the hard length. The spinners were effective and the whole bowling department was great."

Starc also said that he was lucky enough to get the wicket of Travis Head earlier on.

"Got lucky I guess (on taking Head's wicket), was nice to see his back early, not always the case. We have been playing against each other in recent times. They (Arora and Harshit) are exciting to watch and are talented, they are skillful. It's good to see how they hard they train. Harshit has been phenomenal this year. Our bowling attack has been great, it's hard to single anyone out. As an older and overseas player, it's good to see. No doubt they'll take many wickets in the IPL and for India as well."

KKR are into the finals of IPL 2024 and they'll wait for their opponents. While SRH will wait to get their opponents in the Qualifier 2.
