The Wellington test is poised now after day 3. Glenn Phillips fifer triggered Australia's massive collapse as they lost 6 wickets for just 37 runs. Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell built a serious partnership to give Kiwis a hope in the match.
Australia were 13-2 at the start of the day. Nathan Lyon blazed to 41 off only 46 deliveries with 6 boundaries hit by him. Travis Head came and started to open up himself and raced to 29 but fell to Phillips. Green yet again showed up his class and scored a gutsy 34 off 80 balls before Phillips got him out.
Mitchell Marsh went for duck, Carey went for single digit as well. Australia were bundled for a measly 164 and Glenn Phillips was the hero for New Zealand as his fifer put Australia into the pressure.
Chasing 369 runs, New Zealand lost Tom Latham earlier on as Nathan Lyon got him out. Travis Head then sent Will Young for packing, while Lyon removed Kiwis talismanic Kane Williamson as well and left them reeling at 59-3. However the youngster Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell held a nice partnership of 52 runs and took New Zealand towards stumps unscathed.
New Zealand need 258 runs and Australia need 8 wickets. Lyon will be the key man for Australia as the pitch has something to assist the spinners.
