Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has mentioned that Gautam Gambhir, a former Indian batter, is likely to become the head coach of Team India following the T20 World Cup. 

With Rahul Dravid's tenure as head coach concluding after the T20 World Cup, the BCCI is currently in the process of making a decision. Dravid has expressed his intention not to renew his contract. "Every game I have coached for India is important. This is the last tournament in job. I have enjoyed coaching India, it is great to work with these boys. It is a special job. But there are schedules where I find myself that at this stage of my life, I won't be able to apply," Dravid had said earlier.

Gautam Gambhir is considered a leading candidate for the head coach position. A former left-handed opener for the Indian team, he also served as the team mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2024 Indian Premier League, where KKR secured their third IPL trophy this season.

Ganguly has said that former India batter Gautam Gambhir is likely to be the Team India's head coach after the T20 World Cup.

Ganguly also praised the Indian team for reaching the T20 World Cup final. "Reaching two World Cup finals in 7 months speaks volumes about the team's capability and strength... There will be no changes to the team, which aligns with Rohit Sharma's leadership style. It will be the same team... I hope they win tomorrow," the 51-year-old added.
