Glenn Phillips Ruled Out with Groin Injury
The kiwi all-rounder Glenn Phillips who hasn’t featured in a single match this season suffered a groin injury while fielding as a substitute during GT’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. His absence has created a void in Shubman Gill-led Gujarat’s middle order and reduced the team's all-round options.
Shanaka Set to Rejoin Gujarat Titans
As per Newswire, Dasun Shanaka will soon join the Gujarat Titans squad after receiving clearance from the relevant authorities. The Sri Lankan all-rounder went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction but is now poised for a return.
Shanaka had previously represented GT in IPL 2023 where he played three matches. Though his impact was limited then his international T20 stats highlight his value 4,449 runs in 243 T20s, including 3 centuries and 16 fifties, along with 91 wickets. He also famously led Sri Lankan team to the Asia Cup title in 2022.
Gujarat Titans have recovered from a slow start and are currently second on the IPL 2025 points table, with four wins from six games. They are set to face Axar Patel-led Delhi Capitals on April 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
