Pakistan's T20 World Cup campaign has been rocked by controversy after former chief selector Mohammad Wasim accused all-rounder Imad Wasim of concealing a chronic knee injury.

Wasim, speaking on a local news channel, alleged that Imad is misleading the team and fans by claiming to have a rib problem. He pointed out that a knee injury would be evident while running, bowling, and fielding.

This comes after Imad, who recently reversed his retirement, was included in the World Cup squad and failed to deliver with the bat against India.

"If you're claiming a rib injury, and it's actually a knee injury... It's a long-standing injury that you can see while running between the wickets, while bowling, and while fielding", Wasim said. Mohammad Wasim further criticized the team's decision to prioritize experience over fitness and genuine talent. He questioned the selection of players motivated by financial gain over national pride, arguing that such decisions create a poor team environment.

Wasim lamented the decline in team unity and performance compared to two years ago. He implied that bringing back certain "characters" has disrupted the team dynamic, leading to the current struggles.

It's important to note that Imad missed matches due to a "discomfort in his right rib cage," as reported by the PCB. However, Wasim contests this explanation. Imad did play in the crucial match against India but underperformed with both bat and ball. Pakistan ultimately lost the match by a narrow margin.
