Left-handed batsman Fawad Alam ended his 14-year career for Pakistan and is now ready to pursue his career in the United States of America (USA). The 37-year-old is said to play for the Chicago Kings men in minor league cricket T20.

Veteran middle-order batsman Fawad Alam surprised everyone by his decision to step away from the Pakistan national cricket team on Tuesday 8th August. Fawad Alam decided to leave the Pakistan team and pursue a career as a cricketer in the United States of America.

Alam is among the many cricketers who have shifted their base from Pakistan to the United States to revive their cricket career. Some of the other players are Saif Badar, Mohammad Mohsin, Hammad Azam and Sami Aslam.

Fawad leaves Pakistani cricket a veteran of 201 first-class and 203 List A games with 14,526 and 6,577 runs respectively. However, his international career was a strange but interesting story. After his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2007, he made sporadic appearances on the white ball team.

A few years later, he made headlines on his first Test Hundred debut against Sri Lanka in Colombo. But after failing some Tests, he made a comeback against England for 11 years. But he found his rhythm in the Boxing Day Test against New Zealand, scoring a patient 102-run fight in Test conditions. He continued his purple patch with tons against South Africa, West Indies and Zimbabwe.

However, Alam struggled against Australia in early 2022, scoring 33 runs in four innings on flat courses. His troubles continued when he contributed just 25 runs in two innings in a friendly against Sri Lanka. The team management decided to move away from the batsman.

The Karachi-born cricketer was a member of Pakistan's 2009 winning T20 World Cup squad. He represented the Pakistan national cricket team in 19 Test matches, 38 ODIs and 24 T20Is. He recorded five Test centuries and a single ODI century against Sri Lanka at the 2014 Asian Cup.
