All cricket-loving fans coming to witness the upcoming World Cup matches at the Wankhede Stadium will be served popcorn and beverages. The decision has been taken by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), the host of the matches in Mumbai.

The major step has been taken by the Apex Council of the MCA, according to Ajinkiya Naik, the secretary of the association.

"It will be a complimentary one-time serving of popcorn and a cold beverage to all fans attending World Cup matches at the ground,” he said.

"The serving of the popcorn and a cold beverage will begin with the India vs. Sri Lanka match to be played here on 2nd November and the same hospitality will continue until the semi-finals,” he added.

"The MCA under the able leadership of President, Mr. Amol Kale has taken other various initiatives to the spectators at the Stadium. Many areas of the Wankhede Stadium have been upgraded to give the best possible experience to all fans,” he further added.  

The Wankhede Stadium has already hosted two World Cup matches till now. England and South Africa met on October 21 while on October 24, Bangladesh faced South Africa. Both times the winner was South Africa.
