India and Delhi Capitals' wicketkeeper-batter, Rishabh Pant, recently hit back at a social media user for spreading rumors about his possible trade to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ahead of IPL 2025. The user falsely claimed that Pant had expressed interest in captaining RCB for the 18th edition of the tournament. However, Pant was quick to dismiss the baseless report, taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account to clear the air.

Pant refuted the claims, emphasizing that such false information only creates unnecessary confusion and mistrust. "Fake news . Why do you guys spread so much fake news on social media. Be sensible guys so bad . Don’t create untrustworthy environment for no reason. It’s not the first time and won’t be last but I had to put this out .please always re check with your so called sources. Everyday it’s becoming worst . Rest it’s upto you guys . It’s wasn’t just for you it’s for a lot for people who is spreading misinformation. Tc” Pant wrote.

The fake post suggested that Pant had approached RCB for a captaincy role but was turned down, supposedly due to resistance from former captain Virat Kohli. The post went further, alleging that Kohli had rejected Pant's involvement because of "political tactics in the Indian team as well as in DC."

Pant, who has been a part of Delhi Capitals (DC) since his IPL debut in 2016, has become a central figure for the franchise. In 111 matches, the 26-year-old has amassed 3,284 runs, including 18 half-centuries and a century. His explosive batting and leadership skills led DC to appoint him as captain ahead of the 2021 season.
