BCCI has taken a U-turn on the appointments of Zaheer Khan and Rahul Dravid, as the Committee of Administrators (CoA) on Saturday (July 15) informed going against the tide that Team India's support staff will be recruited after consultation with head coach Ravi Shastri by July 22. The move came only four days after Khan and Dravid were named in the team to assist new coach Ravi Shastri. Just days before India leave for a tour of Sri Lanka, it added to a sense of chaos within Indian cricket's leadership. On July 13, an unnamed source from the CoA - which was about to be reduced from three to two members - was quoted as saying that the CAC had exceeded its brief in appointing the two consultants. On the same day, the CAC wrote an email to the CoA expressing its displeasure, and saying it had appointed Dravid and Zaheer after discussions with Shastri. CoA chief Vinod Rai on Saturday informed that Shastri is presently out of the country and once he is back, thefour-member committee will have a meetingwith him. "We have taken the board on the recommendations of the CAC for Mr. Ravi Shastri as the head coach. And we have decided that for further coaches and others, we must have a discussion with Mr. Ravi Shastri. We have discussed with him, he is away. He comes back tomorrow or day after," said Rai. "We have set up a committee of Diana Edulji, Acting Secretary Amitabh Choudhary, acting president of the board CK Khanna and CEO Rahul Johri as a convener, who will speak to them and Ravi Shastri and make the selection of the other coaches," he added. - Jannatul Naym Pieal, Correspondent, bdcrictime.com
