The newly formed BPL team, Dhaka Capitals, is rapidly building a star-studded lineup for the upcoming season. After securing the services of Johnson Charles and Mustafizur Rahman, the franchise has now added Bangladesh’s rising opener, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, to their roster.

Every season brings changes to Dhaka's BPL franchise, and this year is no exception. Dhaka Capitals, the latest addition, has already signed three high-profile cricketers through direct contracts. Along with West Indian powerhouse Johnson Charles, Dhaka has roped in two local stars—Mustafizur Rahman and the young batter, Tanzid Hasan Tamim.

Dhaka Capitals confirmed the signing of Tanzid Hasan Tamim through a Facebook post, calling him the "cricketer of the future, star of the present." The post also highlighted his role in Bangladesh’s victorious U19 World Cup team in 2020, noting that he is now a part of the Dhaka squad for the upcoming BPL season.

This signing follows the acquisition of Johnson Charles and Mustafizur Rahman, with further negotiations reportedly underway for English opener Alex Hales. According to Dhaka Capitals Chairman Haji Delowar Hossain, “We are 90% confirmed with Hales. The final announcement should come in a day or two.”

Dhaka’s BPL franchise, which competed as "Duronto Dhaka" last season, is rebranding itself as Dhaka Capitals for this year’s tournament. The team’s management is clearly focused on assembling a competitive squad, with several key signings already secured.

The BPL players' draft for the upcoming season will take place on October 14, 2024, but Dhaka Capitals, like other franchises, is locking in top players via direct contracts ahead of the draft.
