South Africa posted 256 after losing 5 wickets on day 2 in the Boxing Day test match. Dean Elgar's assured 140 off only 121 balls helped South Africa have a slender 11 run lead after the end of day 2. While, Jasprit Bumrah's tough spell kept India in the game.

Earlier, KL Rahul notched up his hundred and helped India post a competitive 245 on the board. Rabada was the pick of the bowlers for South Africa as he had a fifer. While the debutant Nandre Burger picked up 3 wickets.
In reply, South Africa stuttered earlier as Siraj got the danger man Aiden Markram for 5 off 15 as he nicked off to Siraj. Tony De Zorzi and veteran opener Dean Elgar had a fine partnership of 93 runs which decimated the new ball. Elgar was at his very best as he was smashing everything that came towards him. However Bumrah brought India back with his double trouble. He first got De Zorzi and then sent Keegan Petersen's stumps for a walk. South Africa fell to 113-3.

Dean Elgar and debutant David Bedingham had a match changing partnership. The duo added 131 runs to the tally and gave South Africa the lead.

However Bumrah yet again battled India back and removed the debutant Bedingham for his composed 56 off 87 balls.

South Africa are now on 256-6 and have a slender lead of 11 runs. Dean Elgar is on 140* unbeaten and South Africa will be heavily relied on him to score bulk of the runs tomorrow to get them edge ahead of India with a massive first innings lead.
