Chennai Super Kings thumped Delhi Capitals by a massive margin of 77 runs on Saturday (20 May) at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
Winning the toss, CSK decided to bat first on a batting paradise against DC. CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway put on a show in Delhi. They were flying and smacking everything that came towards them. The opening stand of CSK was worth of 141 that too inside 15 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad contributed with his fine 79 off 50 deliveries with a strike of 158. While the other, Devon Conway played a sublime knock of 87 off only 52 balls at a jaw dropping strike rate of 167.31.
After the departure of these two, Shivam Dube kept the truck going as he smoked three massive sixes in his quick-fire cameo of 22 off only 9 balls. At the end, the marquee all rounder Ravindra Jadeja finished things off nicely as he raced to 22 off only 7 balls. He smacked 3 boundaries and a six. With the contribution of top four, mostly from the opening stand CSK finished their innings for 223-3.
Climbing the total, DC were fallen in the deep sea. They lost their top three inside the powerplay, which includes Prithvi Shaw, English star batter Philip Salt and Rilee Rossow. Axar made 15 off 8, while Yash Dhull scored a sedate 13 off 15 but no one could assist David Warner, who alone kept the hope of DC going.
