Former Sri Lanka captain who led the Lankn Team To Asia Cup Victory 'Dasun Shanaka' is under investigation by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) after he left a first-class match midway to play in the International League T20 (ILT20) for Dubai Capitals. According to reports, Shanaka exited the match after allegedly appearing to be concussed but later turned up for a game in the UAE.

Shanaka had been playing for Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in a crucial first-class match against Moors Sports Club. The team was trying to avoid relegation, and he played the first two days bowling 21 overs and remaining unbeaten on 39 runs at the end of Day 2. On the third da Shanaka smashed a brilliant 123 off just 87 balls but didn’t return to the field after getting out.

What made things more controversial was Shanaka's appearance for Dubai Capitals just hours later. On February 2 he played in an ILT20 match scoring a rapid 34 off 12 balls to help his team post a strong total. The Capitals went on to win that game and eventually lifted the ILT20 trophy on February 9.

In his defense Shanaka explained that both Sri Lanka Cricket and the club knew he had to leave. He told ESPNcricinfo, "I came back to play the first-class match only because SSC requested me. But my other team needed me back, as I had helped them win two games earlier in the tournament."

Shanaka has had an impressive international career representing Sri Lankan National Cricket Team in 102 T20 Internationals, 71 ODIs, and six Test matches.
